When expert crafsmanship meets quality materials

Cedar, natural stone, vulcanized rubber, outer space thermoplastics and carbon. These are only a few of the quality materials, which can be found in high-tech skis manufactured by zai in Disentis. In 2003, Simon Jacomet founded zai with the aim of producing a ski that makes no compromises in terms of quality, material or performance. The result has redefined the boundaries of the modern ski design.

Durability and conviction

zai is a Romansh word and means "tough". Even the name symbolizes durability and conviction. zai carves its own path in design, development and manufacturing. A zai ski is a silent expression of individuality - it does not need flashy logos and graphics. Good design speaks for itself.

Hand manufacturing versus mass production

All zai skis are hand manufactured in Disentis. Factors such as time, effort and costs are irrelevant. This results in quality and durability being unsurpassed: zai skis only lose 5% of their tension after 100 days of use - in mass produced skis the tension loss is already at 25% after only 30 days.

Strong craftsmanship meets advanced technology

The ski manufacturing specialists come from the Surselva area in Graubünden, where working with wood and metal is the traditional craftsmanship and skiing is a way of life. Their craftsmanship expertise is supplemented by the most advanced ski production technology. So is often the case that a new high-tech material is produced that was not previously available.

What can a zai ski do better than a traditional model?

A zai ski is characterized by an incredibly calm, stable performance and effortless cornering at any speed. That is also the reason why skiers of all skill levels opt for a zai ski - from beginners to Olympic champions.
